Sky secures Formula 1 in Germany

sky deutschland_eingang_1253x823_02Sky in Germany has secured the rights to Formula 1 motor-racing until 2017, including broadcast TV, internet, IPTV and mobile rights.

The deal gives Sky broadcast rights over satellite and cable for the next two years, along with IPTV and mobile rights covering Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Sky has held Formula 1 rights in Germany since 1996. Sky Sport chief Burkhard Weber said that the championship was “an important part of [Sky’s] comprehensive sports offering”. He said that Sky would broadcast Formula 1 without commercial breaks.
