Spanish media group Prisa reported strong advertising revenues in in its home market and said that digital revenues also improved.
Reporting its fist quarter results, Prisa said that group adjusted advertising revenues in Spain increase by 10.2% in 1Q 2015 to €59.2 million.
“Digital transformation revenues” also increased by 51% and reach €56.3 million.
Prisa said its free-to-air Portuguese TV network TVI saw advertising revenues grow by 0.7% in the quarter, but overall revenues at the channel fell by 4.3% year-on-year to €19.8 million.
In spite of this, Prisa said TVI “maintains market leadership” across the full day and in prime time, reaching a daily audience share of 23% and 26% respectively.
In June 2014, Prisa and Telefónica agreed the sale of Prisa’s 56% stake in pay TV platform Canal+’s holding company to the Spanish telecom giant for €750 million.
Overall Prisa reported EBITDA of €55.8 million, up 48.3% year-on-year. Operating revenues were down 0.3% to €336.4 million, while net profit came to €8.68 million.
