Ukrainian international channel 1+1 International has upped the amount of Russian-language content in its programming line-up in a move to provide an alternative for Russian-speaking Ukrainians living abroad to what it sees as biased Russian coverage of events in the country.
1+1 International will air Russian-language versions of two key shows, Secret Files and Ukrainian Sensations, adding to an existing Russian-language line-up of content that includes Evening Kyiv, Make the Comedian Laugh, Sunday with Quarter, Evening Quarter, Fight Club; news and political comedy ChystoNews and Fairytale Rus.
“1+1 Media group, in which the channel is included, always promptly responds to demands from society and aims to be understandable to its viewers. At the moment, Ukraine is involved into a large-scale information war, and the Russian influence in the world is massive. That is why it is very important to provide the audience with an opportunity to receive information from alternative sources. Since 1+1 International channel has a vast Russian-speaking audience, we have decided to meet the needs of viewers and increase the share of Russian-language programmes in order to ensure a productive dialogue,” said Vladyslav Svinchenko, general producer of 1+1 International.
