Mediaset and 21 Investments sell cinema chain for €105m

Italian broadcaster Mediaset and 21 Investments have sold their cinema chain The Space Cinema to the UK’s Vue Entertainment International for €105 million. 

The Space Cinema was created in 2009 following 21 Investments’ acquisition of Warner Village and the Medusa chain. With Mediaset’s investment, the group acquired two other chains – central Italian cinema group Planet and north-eastern group Cinecity – creating a  cinema business with 36 multiplexes and a market share of around 20%.
