Liberty Global secures Romanian football rights

Liberty Global-owned UPC Romania and satellite TV sister-company Focus Sat have secured rights to show national Liga 1 football matches and matches from secondary club tournament the Cupa Ligii for the next five years.

Thanks to an agreement with rights-holder Intel Sky Broadcast, matches from the tournaments will be aired on the Cluj-Napoca-based Transilvania Media Group-owned Look TV and Look Plus channels.

UPC Romania chief marketing officer Robert Redeleanu said that as a result of the deal UPC and Focus Sat customers would be able to watch the most important matches from Romanian football competitions for the 2014-19 period.
