Kevin Reilly to exit Fox

Kevin Reilly is to leave his role as Fox Broadcasting’s entertainment chairman.

Fox has been suffering a ratings slide as its once-dominant reality slate dithers, but Reilly said his departure was down to the fatigue of running networks for a decade. Before joining Fox in 2007, Reilly lead NBC.

During his latest tenure, Fox launched shows such as Brookly Nine-Nine, New Girl, Sleepy Hollow and The Following.

He was promoted to Fox chairman in2012, but is set to leave the 21^st Century Fox-owned network before the end of June.

While a replacement is found, Reilly’s direct reports will now report to Fox Networks Group chairman and CEO PeterRice. Names such as former BermanBraun boss Gail Berman, FX president John Landgraf, Fox Entertainment COO Joe Earley, and Fox studio co-chairman DanaWalden have all been linked to the post.

Reilly had already begun to hand some of his duties, including responsibilities for Fox’s development slate, to Earley, suggesting his number two may be the main to replace him. However, US reports claim Fox is looking outside the business for the new chairman.

Besides running Fox and NBC, Reilly also helmed cable channel FX and worked at Brad Grey Television (The Sopranos).
