CNN puts viewers in control with Watch CNNx iPad app

News network CNN has launched Watch CNNx, an iPad app that it says will give viewers “unprecedented control over their TV news experience.”

Users can access 24-hours of CNN TV rundowns, see segments they’ve missed, and control and preview the content they want to watch.

The app also gives viewers the option to delve into a topic or news story with related, automatically curated, digital content, as well as letting them watch CNN TV live or on-demand.

“CNN has again redefined the way people consume news. As the Internet has come crashing into the television, we’ve future-proofed CNN. This product bolsters our relationships with TV partners, opens incredible new opportunities for advertisers and delivers consumers a truly innovative experience,” said senior vice president and general manager of CNN Digital, KC Estenson.

Users can log-in to Watch CNNx with their TV provider username and password. It is available now to customers of select providers, with a wider rollout to follow. Watch CNNx will also debut on set-top boxes and on CNN.com by the end of 2014.
