M-Net South Africa appoints CEO

MultiChoice-owned M-Net South Africa has upped its director for local interest channels, Yolisa Phahle, to CEO of the channels business.

MultiChoice South Africa Group CEO, Imtiaz Patel, announced the appointment, praising Phahle as a “rare talent” and a “capable all-round broadcasting executive.”

Phahle joined the group in 2005 as general manager of African music network Channel O.

She was appointed director of special interest channels for South Africa in 2009, which expanded her portfolio to include MK, KykNET and later Vuzu.

She also was responsible for overseeing the launch of the channels Mzansi Magic, Mzansi Magic Music, Mzansi Wethu and Mzansi Bioskop.
