Canada-based chipset firm ViXS and software specialist Wyplay have developed what they claim is the industry’s first media gateway solution with full support for Ultra HD 4K and advanced HEVC 10-bit media processing.
The firms said that by combining ViXS’ XCode 6400 system on a chip with Wyplay’s open platform system middleware, called Frog, they can offer service providers a “dynamic platform for deploying Ultra HD with legacy content support.”
The firms will demonstrate the solution at CES in Las Vegas next week, with ViXS’ XCode 6400 due to go into production this quarter.
“The emerging gateway market is an exciting space for Wyplay and a great match for our solutions. We are pleased to continue partnering with ViXS on their media software ecosystem and to play a key role in helping the industry transition to Ultra HD 4K in 2014,” said Wyplay CEO Jacques Bourgninaud.
