YouTube: 80% of views coming from outside US

YouTube said that 80% of all site views are now coming outside of the US, with the “global community is driving pop culture unlike ever before.”

Announcing the video site’s top videos of the year, YouTube said that comic music video ‘The Fox’ by Ylvis was the top trending video of 2013 with more than 275 million views.

The most watched official music video was Gentleman by Gangnam Style singer PSY, which has notched up more than 598 million views since it was published in April.

At the same time, YouTube parent company Google announced it has added 10 new apps to its Chromecast media streaming dongle.

The HDMI internet TV device, which is currently on sale in North America, now includes apps by Vevo, Red Bull.TV, Songza, PostTV, Viki, Revision 3, BeyondPod, Plex, Avia, and RealPlayer Cloud.
