i24news launches on Polsat, partners with Brightcove

Recently launched Israel-based news network i24news goes live today on Polish DTH platform Polsat.

The English-language feed will be available on channel 235 and will be available to Polsat’s 3.5 million subscribers. The launch comes a week after i24news launched in Spain, after agreeing a distribution deal with Spanish DTH operator Canal+.

At the same time, video services firm Brightcove today announced that i24news has selected its Video Cloud platform to support a 24-hour live online video stream of its channel in French, English and Arabic.

With Video Cloud, i24 News is able to publish live to a global audience via desktops and Apple iOS and Google Android smartphones and tablets.

i24news launched in July and covers international news “through the eyes of Israeli society.” The network broadcasts from the port of Jaffa in Israel, is available on cable and satellite pay-packages in three languages. It is also available for free on satellite in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East via 13 Hotbird, Astra 19.2, ITS 4, AsiaSat 5 and can be streamed over the web.
