RTR strikes deal to distribute content on VKontakte social network

Russian state broadcaster RTR has struck a deal with leading social network provider VKontakte to enable video to be distributed over the VKontakte network, according to local reports.

RTR, which operates channels including Rossiya, Rossiya 2, Rossiya 24 and Kultura, has agreed to legalise the redistribution of content to which it owns the rights that appears on the country’s leading social network.

RTR deputy director-general Dmitry Mednikov said that the broadcaster had secured an advertising revenue sharing agreement with VKontakte that was acceptable to it.
