UPC Cablecom expands unencrypted offering

Liberty Global-owned UPC Cablecom is to offer more channels from is basic package unencrypted.

From October 16, the cable operator will make six HD channels available unencrypted in the German speaking part of the country.

UPC Cablecom customers will from October 16 be able to receive more than 60 unencrypted digital channels directly from any cable socket, 27 of which will be in HD.

The new Swiss entertainment channel S1 TV is also being added to the basic package. The other six channels now available in HD as part of the basic package are Star TV, youth channel MTV, children’s channel Nickelodeon together with Comedy Central and the three most popular French channels: TF1, France2 and M6.

On top of this, customers with a set-top box or DigiCard will now be able to watch up to 17 existing channels in HD.
