TVP launches regional channels

Polish public broadcaster TVP has launched 16 regional channels for the cities of Bialystok, Gdańsk , Gorzow Wielkopolski, Katowice, Kielce, Krakow, Lublin, Lodz, Olsztyn, Opole, Poznań , Rzeszow, Szczecin, Warsaw and Wrocław.

Each channel will create its own regional programmes dedicated to local communities. The new channels will take over the local programming of news channel TVP Info.

Cable operators including Vectra will air the local channels in the relevant areas of the country. Vectra said it would air the new regional channels on analogue and digital, with the process expected to be complete by Setpember 7. TVP Info will continue to be aired in Vectra’s digital tier.
