Humax has launched an open platform HTML5-based smart set-top box, which it will supply to Korean cable TV operator T-broad.
The set-top supplier says the new box would support Smart Plus, the next generation pay-tv service T-broad that launched last month.
The web-connected set-top box will let users browse the internet, download applications, and access video on demand.
Humax said that this first commercial smart TV service in the world that is based on the open platform HTML5, though “many other pay-tv operators are preparing the TV service”.
