Viewster names UK sales chief

Jeremy PlayleSwitzerland-based video-on-demand service Viewster has named Jeremy Playle as its UK sales director.

Playle will head Viewster’s brand partnerships and advertising sales business in the UK, and will be tasked with bringing new media brands to the platform as well as developing the company’s existing partnerships.

Playle previously led the commercial element of cinema advertising group DCM’s transition from analogue to digital distribution, and he has also held positions at EMAP and ITV.

“Advertisers today are looking for premium environments online where they can reach large groups of targeted audiences. With 100% professional content and 100% mind share, and a large global audience, this is Viewster’s sweet spot,” said Kai Henniges, CEO of Viewster. “With global spend on online video advertising set to hit US$14.7 billion by 2017, as more advertisers move budgets away from TV, developing our advertising sales business is a key part of our global business growth strategy. I am therefore thrilled to have Jeremy Playle on board. His great experience will be invaluable, as we expand our offering in the UK and elsewhere.”
