Kabel Deutschland (KDG) is to challenge the German competition regulator’s decision to block its takeover of smaller German operator Tele Columbus.
KDG has filed a complaint challenging the decision which has been passed to the Supreme Administrative Court of Düsseldorf. The competition regulator, the Bundeskartellamt, ruled that KDG’s proposed €618 million takeover of Tele Columbus could only be approved if it sold off 60% of its networks in eastern Germany, something KDG found was unacceptable.
