Digital TV technology firm Advanced Digital Broadcast Group (ADB Group) has seen earnings and and revenue climb in 2012 thanks to increased demand for services and further US market penetration.
The firm, which offer solutions to distribute digital pay-TV and multimedia services to the connected home through cable, satellite, terrestrial and IP networks, reported full year revenue of US$452 million, up 13% compared to 2011, while net profits came in at US$8.46 million, compared to a US$12.3 million loss in the previous year.
“Year 2012 saw the digital TV penetration worldwide exceeding the 50% threshold. This figure is expected to reach 78% by 2016. While the competition from various forms of internet-carried television poses a serious challenge, the ‘traditional’ pay-TV continues to gain ground as it still remains a popular form of accessing entertainment content,” the firm said.
