UPC Austria is to stop encrypting some 47 digital channels at the end of this month, enabling existing analogue customers to receive digital services without the need for a set-top box.
The channels, which include public broadcaster ORF’s services, will be available via any TV with a DVB-C receiver, enabling existing digital subscribers to view digital services on other TVs without the need for additional digital receivers.
Customers who wish to subscribe to premium services and video-on-demand will continue to require a set-top.
