Edgeware announces Dutch, Finnish customer wins

Distributed video specialist Edgeware has announced customer wins in the Netherlands and Finland.

Dutch cable operator Ziggo is using Edgeware’s Distributed Video Delivery Network (D-VDN) system, managed by the Convoy VDN software suite, to provide multiscreen services to its internet subscribers, giving them subscribers access to live TV channels on iPads, iPhones and iPods.

Finnish telco Elisa has built a pan-European content delivery network, also using Edgeware’s D-VDN system and WTV-2X web TV servers, co-located in multiple countries, to deliver premium live and on-demand OTT content to its EpicTV customers on multiple devices, including iOS and Android devices.

“Edgeware’s solution for CDNs has significant advantages over generic server-based systems, and allows us to cost-efficiently manage our own premium services infrastructure,” said Panu Lehti, vice-president business development, Elisa. “The ultra-low power consumption and 1U half rack size appliances are ideal for co-location environments, and the Convoy VDN system provides CDN management and real time QoE reporting capabilities.”
