Portugal Telecom has defied the country’s tough economic situation to increase pay TV and triple-play subscribers during the second quarter.
The telco boosted its pay TV customer base by 25.8% year-on-year to end June with 1.157 million Meo subs. The addition of 41,000 pay TV subs is in line with the 40,000 it added during the same period last year.
The number of customers taking TV, broadband and telephony services increased by 30%, to 766,000.
Portugal Telecom’s second quarter operating revenues in the residential customer segment increased 5.1% year-on-year to €179 million.
