ProSiebenSat.1 posts growth despite Euro 2012 hit

Germany-based broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 maintained advertising revenues in its core German-language area market more or less at last year’s level in the second quarter, despite the adverse impact of the Euro 2012 football championships, which were shown exclusively on public channels.

ProSiebenSat.1 posted German-speaking market revenues of €471 million for the quarter, compared with €472 million in 2011, with Austria and Switzerland making up for a shortfall in Germany.

ProSiebenSat.1 was boosted by a strong performance in the Nordic markets and strong digital growth, with online video, online games and new ventures all performing strongly. Revenues from production arm Red Arrow amounted to €17.9 million, three times the €4.9 million reported for the same period last year.

The group’s overall revenues for the quarter were up 4.5% at €723.3 million, while recurring EBITDA was up 2% at €243.5 million. Underlying net income was up 27.5% at €121.5 million.

ProSiebenSat.1  maintained its full-year objective of single-digit revenue growth and equaling its 2011 EBITDA figure.
