Hollande asks CSA to name new AEF chief

French president François Hollande has written to media regulator the CSA to ask it to nominate a new president for the country’s external media organisation, the AEF.

As part of a move to transfer the power to appoint senior public broadcasting executives from the executive branch, Hollande has written to CSA president Michel Boyon to name the best candidate to replace former AEF chief Alain de Pouzhilhac, who resigned last month. Under a 1986 law, the French president has the power to name the AEF president.
