BBC launches interactive video player

The BBC is ramping up its interactive output ahead of the Olympic Games with the launch of a new live interactive video player.

The interactive video player will offer live and on-demand HD coverage of every sport event on every day of the Olympics, meaning up to 24 live streams at any time. Users will be able to pause and rewind live video, while chapter markers will let people jump to various key moments. Facts and information apbout the sport and competitors being viewed will appear alongside the video.

The video player will be available on computers and certain tablets that support Flash. On mobiles and iPads users will be able to watch the video but without the extra functionality.

This latest announcement follows last week’s launch of a live Facebook video stream app from BBC Sport.
