France 24 launching new internet TV platform

France 24 is launching a new connected TV platform giving access to its three channels as well as on-demand content.

The connected TV app will also enable users to share content on Twitter and Facebook using customised on-screen buttons.

France 24 has signed deals with a number of manufacturers, including Samsung for connected TVs, tablets and mobile phones in Europe. The app will also appear on LG and Panasonic connected TVs in Europe. It is already available on Toshiba sets in Europe and will be available worldwide by the end of March. Technisat connected TVs in Europe also offer access to the app, while a deal with NetRange has brought the app to devices from various brands, including Loewe, Vestel, SES’s HD Plus and SetOne.

France 24 has also signed a deal with OTT operator Boxee for the US, Canada and Europe.

Frank Melloul, head of distribution and strategy at France 24, said, “This deployment on all connected TV sets in Europe and the world is a key stage in the expansion of our distribution. Thanks to this new application, France 24 programmes will be available on all TV sets sold around the world, thus securing additional influence and new viewers in regions where distribution is not optimum.”
