SeaChange launches Nucleus

TV technology specialist SeaChange International has used the CES show in Las Vegas to launch its Nucleus hybrid gateway software, designed to support cable operators’ transition from QAM to IP video to support multi-screen viewing and access to web-based services.

SeaChange Nucleus is built on top of the SeaChange tru2way enabled platform and supports its Nitro user interface. It comprises the Nucleus Engine to deliver control over set-top functionality including channel changes, VOD/DVR playback and trick mode and enable media sharing throughout the home via DLNA, and Presentation Manager, which looks after graphical components of the interface and conducts HTML5/JavaScript rendering, supports next-generation user interfaces through Nitro and supports applications, widgets, over-the-top TV and personal content from a variety of third-party devices.

SeaChange Nucleus is also capable of supporting multiple configurations within the home including a number of hybrid gateways containing multiple tuners for video, DOCSIS 3.0 and for OTT content while supporting MoCA, Ethernet and Wi-Fi interfaces, according to SeaChange.
