Vodafone plans TV-over-LTE rollout

Vodafone Deutschland is to turn on its LTE network in its home city of Düsseldorf this month as part of a plan to expand its LTE network throughout Germany and include TV as part of the offering.

Vodafone is currently deploying a hybrid set-top delivering IPTV and interactive services via DSL as well as TV via cable or satellite, with the ability to take advantage of the best reception means available to subscribers. The company says that in the future TV will also be available via its LTE network, and its set-top will also be further developed to include DLNA capability to enable signals to be sent via the Vodafone Wi-Fi router to tablets and other screens in the home.
