iPlayer manager appointed

The BBC has hired former Microsoft exec Daniel Danker to the newly-created position of general manager for programmes and on-demand, according to reports.

He will manage iPlayer while he and his team will also design and build products for delivering TV and radio services online. Danker joins from Microsoft, where he was programme manager and director of architecture and development, working on Microsoft’s IPTV software Mediaroom amongst other activities.
