INNOPIA revealing new Netflix scaling program based on RDK platform – Project Da Vinci

INNOPIA Technologies Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “INNOPIA”), A Pay TV Set Top Box (STB) ODM in Korea is revealing new scaling program in collaboration with Netflix – Project “Da Vinci” based on RDK(Reference Design Kit) software that enables Pay TV operators to develop and launch new, user-friendly services for TV and OTT video. Two IP/OTT STB models of IMT-M6300 and IMT-M730R are officially announced for the first time in IBC Digital 2021.

As Netflix continues to grow as the world’s leading streaming entertainment service and it is an important service to be implemented in STB, as more Pay TV operators are looking for Netflix enabled products to satisfy their customers’ demands. To make it easier for Pay TV operators to integrate Netflix on the STB, Netflix continued to invest in turnkey solutions that accelerate time to market readiness and reduce development efforts. Under one of these Netflix programs, INNOPIA had been selected as one of the first Hailstorm Partner in South Korea in 2019, proving its strong presence and readiness in the market.

Project “Da Vinci” is introduced in order to broaden the solution for the Pay TV operator who is providing TV service based on RDK STB platform. Previously through Netflix Hailstorm program, Netflix enabled STB solutions were developed based on Android TV platform, and thanks to “Da Vinci” project, based on the RDK platform, Pay TV operators can more easily launch their STB with pre-installed premium SVOD services including Netflix.

INNOPIA participated in Da Vinci project with two different solutions. Firstly a RDK OTT STB based on Realtek SoC(RTD1319) is available, which is integrated with customized UI design, providing unique experience. Emphasizing on INNOPIA’s specialty at optimizing stability and video streaming performance over Wi-Fi in a small form factor, another platform is integrated on Amlogic SoC(S905X4) in a mini dongle type device. Both products are sophisticatedly designed by INNOPIA and capable of up to 4K resolution with powerful performance and solid reliability. Along with the Hailstorm program developed on Android TV, INNOPIA now offers widened solution for Netflix enabled STBs to all global operators.

“We’re glad to be helping Pay TV operators who are looking for a variety of Netflix enabled STBs. The Da Vinci Project based on RDK will be an advantage for the operators and INNOPIA is excited to be taking part of this addition in the market value”, said Dr. Heewon Park, the president of INNOPIA.

INNOPIA is expecting to offer the Netflix enabled RDK STB with high compatibility, enhanced performance and seamless network stability to the pay TV operators globally.
