UPC Slovakia begins tests of digital MMDS

Cable operator UPC Slovakia has begun test broadcasting a digital MMDS service in Bratislava in an attempt to eliminate piracy on the analogue service.

Users of the MMDS service in the Bratislava area will require a set-top to receive signals from July. The cable operator received a licence at the beginning of June to operate MMDS services in the capital for 10 years, using the 2200-2300MHz frequency band.
