MultiChoice planning to boost VOD offering

South African pay TV operator MultiChoice is set to launch an extended video-on-demand service, DStv BoxOffice, possibly next month, according to local reports.

MultiChoice launched a video-on-demand service last year. However, the new service will offer on-demand movies day-and-date with their DVD releases, according to the reports.

MultiChoice is expected to face additional competition later this year when SouthTel launches a planned satellite-based low-cost pay-per-view service.
