Dahlia TV pulls out of Spain
Spanish digital-terrestrial pay-TV provider Dahlia TV has decided to withdraw from the market.
The company, owned by Swedens Air Plus TV, decided to pull out following the delay in government approval of pay services on the platform and the emergence of media group Mediapro, which is commercialising its Gol TV premium football channel on DTT, as a potential competitor. A possible merger between MediaproÂs La Sexta and commercial channel Antena 3 could also create a strong digital-terrestrial player.
Dahlia TVÂs backers planned to invest approximately Â150m in setting up the platform, and signed up SonyÂs AXN as an anchor channel.
