Second screen specialist Monterosa has raised £1.2 million in Series A funding and plans to expand its team across sales, product development and delivery.

Monterosa said it will use the investment to accelerate the company’s growth into sports marketing and activation for global brands, rights-holders and broadcasters.

It will also use the funds to further develop the company’s LViS platform – a scalable interaction platform that has been deployed by companies including Talpa, Endemol, TF1, BBC Worldwide and Channel 4.

Boutique investment firm 24Haymarket led the funding round, which also included Angel CoFund and Robin Shenfield, CEO of advertising visual-effects company The Mill.

24Haymarket founding-director Marek Gumienn has joined the Monterosa board while Shenfield was appointed chairman.

“These developments are a huge boost to our recent success in addressing a global opportunity; namely helping brands, sports rights-holders and broadcasters drive greater audience engagement and capture data across multiple screens and channels,” said Monterosa CEO, Tom McDonnell.

“Having developed a platform that is both scalable and applicable to a diverse range of creative content, we now have the firepower to take the company and platform forward.”
