Sky Italia prepares for life without Rai

Italian pay-TV provider Sky Italia is expected to reveal a new line-up of channels this week to replace those of RaiSat if it fails to strike a new carriage agreement with public broadcaster Rai. The latter has teamed up with commercial broadcaster Mediaset and Telecom Italia Media to launch a new DTH platform, Tivù Sat.

According to local reports, Sky is expected to announce the launch of movie channel Sky Cinema Italia and Fox’s Baby TV to fill the space left by Rai’s thematic channels Rai Cinema, cooking channel Gambero Rosso, kids channels Yoyo and Smash Girls and entertainment channel Extra.

Rai, Mediaset and Telecom Italia Media’s La7 are expected to present the line-up of the new Tivù Sat platform on Wednesday.
