Freesat expands iPlayer trial
The BBC and Freesat have expanded the beta trial of the broadcasters catch-up service iPlayer on the free-to-air DTH platform by officially releasing the code needed to access the service.
Viewers wishing to access iPlayer will need a Freesat HD or Freesat Plus set-top connected to a satellite dish and to a broadband service of at least 1Mbps. The Freesat version of iPlayer is currently only available on Humax set-tops but will become available to all Freesat HD boxes and Freesat HD TVs over the coming months. The expansion of the trial follows positive feedback from a small number of initial test users.
Freesat is also set to launch commercial broadcaster ITVÂs catch-up service, ITV Player, during the first half of the year.
