Orange confirms it’s leaving Kangaroo behind

France Telecom-owned telco and pay-TV operator Orange is no longer in discussions to buy the technology behind Project Kangaroo, the failed joint-venture online catch-up service proposed by UK broadcasters ITV, Channel 4 and the BBC.

A France Telecom spokesperson confirmed to the Guardian newspaper that, following in-depth due diligence, Orange was not perusing its interest in the catch-up technology.

Project Kangaroo is believed to have received £20m (€22.7m) of investment from its partners. One other party is also interested in the technology, although its identity is unknown.
