Channels line up for second Russian multiplex

Some 12 Russian TV channels have applied to take part in the country’s second digital multiplex with more applications expected to follow yesterday, according to local reports.

Alexander Zharov, head of Federal regulator the Roskomnadzor said on Tuesday that he expected a further four to five applications before yesterday’s deadline.

The winning candidates will be decided next month. Channels must commit to broadcasting on a 24-hour basis, with a domestically produced content quota of not less than 55%.
