MGM HD launches in Spain, Canal Hollywood Portugal to follow

MGM Worldwide Networks has launched an HD version of its MGM Channel in Spain in partnership with Chello Multicanal.

The channel will initially be available on Telefónica’s Imagenio platform. The launch takes the number of MGM HD channels to six worldwide. 

MGM is Chello Multicanal’s first HD launch. Currently only a relatively small proportion of Imagenio’s 700,000 subscribers are currently able to receive HD services. Chello Multicanal’s managing director Eduardo Zulueta last month told DTVE that Multicanal is also looking to launch an HD feed of its Canal Hollywood movie channel in Portugal, possibly followed by an HD version of the channel for Spain.
