UK government under scrutiny over News’ BSkyB bid


An opposition Member of Parliament has said that a criminal offence might have been committed if News Corp was given information about its bid for BSkyB by a UK government office while the deal was being investigated.


UK newspaper The Guardian, which has been at the forefront of reporting of News Corp’s involvement in the phone-hacking scandal, reported MP Chris Bryant’s comments. Specifically, the concerns relate to whether culture minister Jeremy Hunt broke the ministerial code while News Corp’s failed Sky bid was being scrutinised.
