EC set to allow Sky Italia DTT service

The European Commission is set to allow Italian pay-TV service Sky Italia to launch services on the country’s digital terrestrial television service.

Competition commissioner Joaquin Almunia is reportedly set to allow the News Corp-owned pay broadcaster to launch free-to-air services, despite vocal opposition from groups including rival broadcaster Mediaset.
