March iPlayer usage down compared to January

The BBC has released March usage stats for its on-demand service iPlayer that show there were 117.6 million requests for programmes. That figure is up from 116.4 million in February but down from 120.3 million in January. In March 2009, there were 78.3 million requests.

Of the total requests, 84.3 million were for video content, including 17.3 million requests from Virgin Media’s cable platform, and 33.3 million were for radio content. The BBC said the profile of iPlayer users is evening out over time in terms of male/female ratio.
