Latvian cable operators seek permission to merge

Latvian cable operators Baltkom and Izzi have applied to the country’s competition regulator for permission to merge, according to local press.

The Latvian Competition Council has indicated that a decision should be taken by the end of October. The pair’s combined subscriber base would be about 300,000, enabling them to compete more effectively with fixed-line incumbent Lattelecom.
