Vivendi hires ex-Telefónica Brasil chief in convergence role

Vivendi has hired former Telefónica Brasil CEO Amos Genish in the new role of chief convergence officer. Genish will be charged with overseeing the group’s convergence strategy between content, platforms and technology. Genish will be based in Paris and London.

Genish has previously worked for Vivendi in his role as founder and CEO of Brazilian telco GVT. He founded the company in 1999 and led it expansion before it was sold to the French media group in 2009.

Genish became CEO of Telefónica Brasil in May 2015, following the integration of Vivo and GVT after Vivendi sold the latter to Telefónica. He resigned in October last year citing personal reasons and stating his intention to leave his position on January 1, with chief commercial digital officer Eduardo Navarro named as his replacement. He remained on the company’s board until yesterday, with Telefónica naming José Maria Del Rey Osorio named as his replacement as board member.
