Telewizja Polsat takes full control of Eleven Sports

Polish broadcaster Telewizja Polsat has acquired 100% control of Eleven Sports in Poland.

Telewizja Polsat parent Polsat Plus’ spokesman told local media that the Eleven brand would remain in use following the acquisition.

Marc Watson, Eleven Sports Network’s representative on the board of the Polish unit, has resigned his position.

Watson was appointed chief commercial officer of sports streamer DAZN when DAZN acquired Eleven Group in February this year.

Telewizja Polsat become majority owner of Eleven Sports Network in Poland in 2018, and increased its stake to 99.99% the following year. The Polish broadcaster has now acquired the remaining share it did not already have, giving it 100% control.

The outfit holds the rights to broadcast Serie A, Ligue 1, Portuguese and Belgian football in Poland, as well as jointly holding rights to LaLiga with Canal+.

This year saw Eleven Sports channels in the country acquire local licences for the first time. The company broadcasts four channels in Poland – Eleven Sports 1, Eleven Sports 2, Eleven Sports 3 and Eleven Sports 4.
