DAZN acquires Serie A Femminile media rights across multiple markets

Sport streaming giant DAZN is expanding its women football coverage following the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, with the acquisition of broadcasting rights to Serie A Femminile.

Under an agreement with the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (FIGC) and S&T Sports, DAZN will showcase the Italian women’s football league across its platforms in Spain, Italy, US, UK, Germany, Canada, Portugal, Belgium, Japan and Austria.

The deal covers the 2023/2024 season of Serie A Femminile as well as the women’s Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa. Serie A Femminile comprises of 36 matches, with two games in each of the 18 days and a game in the US.

DAZN has made efforts to widen its coverage of women’s football with the launch of its FAST channel DAZN Women’s Football this year and streamed the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 to select territories. The sport content provider also acquired the US-based women-focused football platform Ata Football in August.

Hannah Brown, co-CEO of DAZN Women’s Sport, highlighted that: “DAZN already has a significant football offering in all its markets and with the addition of Serie A Femminile eBay, we offer more premium content adding value to our proposition. This demonstrates DAZN’s commitment to increasing the visibility and accessibility of women’s football and reinforces our strategic commitment to invest, develop and advance women’s football in our key markets and globally. In Germany, France, Spain and Japan we already have the rights to their respective domestic leagues, in addition to the UEFA Women’s Champions League and the F League globally, along with the NWSL except in the United States.”

“We are delighted to bring the best women’s football to more fans in our key markets around the world, reinforcing our position as the go-to destination for women’s football fans,” she added.
