CNN Max launches in Open Beta in US

Max, Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming service, has launched CNN Max as an open beta version in the US.

CNN Max is part of an open beta for news that will enable experimentation and learnings with product features, content offerings and original storytelling, all with the input and feedback from the Max team,

The 24/7 live streaming news offering is available to users in the US, with added access to news content and CNN Originals.

As part of the launch which was announced last month, the CNN Originals hub was renamed CNN Max. The project is a reattempt to launch a streaming hub for the Warner Media news network, following the closure of the streaming service CNN+ a month after it launched in March 2022.

The news network’s anchors will feature in CNN Max programming such as CNN Newsroom with Jim Acosta, Rahel Solomon, Amara Walker and Fredricka Whitfield, and CNN Newsroom with Jim Sciutto. Sciutto will also lead breaking news coverage on the platform in the afternoons.

CNN Max will also stream titles Amanpour, Anderson Cooper 360, The Lead with Jake Tapper, The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, joined by other anchors, correspondents, and contributors.

WBD has been making moves to expand its streaming platform, with the addition of a new sports tier to their Max offering in the US in association with its own Bleacher Report digital sports offering from October 5. The package will deliver a full slate of premium live sports, including MLB, NHL, NBA, NCAA Men’s March Madness, and U.S. Soccer events, The Match, Emmy Award-winning studio shows such as Inside the NBA, live video content from B/R covering an array of sports, select live international sports events such as 24 Hours of Le Mans, and extensive VOD content.
