Telesat boss Dan Goldberg to chair GSOA board

Dan Goldberg

Telesat’s CEO Dan Goldberg has been named the new chair of the board of the Global Satellite Operators Association (GSOA).

Eva Berneke, CEO of Eutelsat was also elected co-vice chair, alongside Ali Al Hashemi, CEO of Yahsat, who was appointed earlier this year.

Goldberg became president and chief executive officer of Telesat in 2006. Prior to joining Telesat he served as chief executive officer of SES New Skies and served as a member of the SES executive committee.

The organisation said the new leadership team will lead the industry’s voice to secure sufficient spectrum to enable the industry to advance its critical role in connecting the world.

Goldberg said: ”As the satellite industry continues to expand and innovate at an unprecedented rate, GSOA provides a critical platform for satellite operator collaboration and ensuring that together, we have a unified voice in shaping the future digital ecosystem. Recognizing the importance of satellite technologies operating in harmony to meet global connectivity goals, I’m honored to be GSOA’s next chair as we collectively advocate for the satellite sector at the upcoming ITU World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 (WRC-23).”

On June 1 GSOA merged with satellite industry body Global VSAT Forum which sees GSOA becoming a trade association comprised of 70 member companies spanning the entire satellite ecosystem from across the globe.
