FilmRise secures AVOD and FAST rights to BBC Studios content

US film and television streaming network FilmRise has acquired AVOD and FAST rights to over 480 episodes of programming from BBC Studios.

The roster of shows includes various series of different genres, including 23 seasons of the critically-acclaimed crime drama Silent Witness,  four seasons of the Kenneth Branagh and Tom Hiddleston drama Wallander, five seasons of Ripper Street starring Matthew Macfadyen, sci-fi series Primeval, Canadian time-travel drama Being Erica, and more.

Max Einhorn, SVP of Acquisitions & Co-Productions of FilmRise said, “BBC Studios is behind some of the best programming in the world and we’re excited to bring this content to the FilmRise Streaming Network and grow our audience through international programming, all for free.”

Other slate of titles acquired in the deal include Scott and Bailey, Misfits, and Life and Death Row.

FilmRise is a the New-York based film and television studio and operator of the FilmRise Streaming Network. The company was founded in 2012 by veteran producers and financiers Danny Fisher, Jack Fisher and Alan Klingenstein,

According to film and TV outfit, it offers over 50,000 licensed and originally produced scripted and unscripted feature films and television episodes across all genres.

The BBC Studios’ content joins FilmRise’s portfolio which houses Hell’s Kitchen And Kitchen Nightmares; hit culinary battle series, Iron Chef, Unsolved Mysteries, Forensic Files, The Rifleman, Shameless, Midsomer Murders and Doc Martin.
