Exclusive: Vevo expands FAST offering in the UK and Spain

Leading music video network, Vevo is to expand its FAST offering with the debut of its hip hop and R&B channels in the UK, as well as, Vevo’s 70s & 80s channels launching in Spain on Samsung TV Plus later this summer.

It comes following the launch of the Vevo ’70s & ’80s FAST channel in the UK and in Italy and Vevo’s Années 90s & 2000s channel debuting in France.

The company’s 24/7 programming is curated by decades, like the 70s, 80s and 90s, to genres, such as Pop, Country, Latino and R&B. The FAST channels are available across more than 70 linear TV channels worldwide via services like Apple, Roku, Samsung, Amazon and YouTube.

Last month, the music company revealed it was expanding its FAST lineup exclusively on Samsung TV Plus in the coming months, with genre-specific and decades-based channels, Vevo Alt & Indie, Vevo Dance & Electronic, and Vevo 2010s.

Hedvig Arnet, VP, Business Development, Vevo explained to Digital TV Europe: “We have a programming team specifically responsible for different territories and how the content is programmed there. They look at the local trends and we have, of course, a wealth of information from YouTube, of what people are watching and what they’re interested in. So we’re able to use a lot of that data to inform our decision making. Then we also have a team in in the UK and Europe so they’re much closer to the trends and what’s going on in those regions. So we see the importance and the cultural significance of music is so ingrained that can’t just hammer someone over the head with US pop and expect that to work everywhere around the world. It’s very important for us that those audiences are catered to.”
