RTL Germany renews UEFA Europa League for 2024/25-2026/27

RTL Germany has extended its live rights to the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Europa Conference League until 2026/27. The three-year deal triggers in 2024/25 and continues a relationship between RTL and the Europa League dating back to 2018.

RTL Germany said the deal means it will continue to be “the only provider to show top European football live on free TV throughout the season”. In addition to airing game via free TV channels RTL and NITRO, the company added that streaming service RTL+ will also show a mix of live, highlight and news coverage.

Stephan Schmitter, chief content officer RTL Germany, said: “We are very pleased to continue this partnership with UEFA and to continue to give football the widest possible stage on our channels and platforms in the years to come. Only with us can fans experience top European football for free.” Last year, RTL’s coverage of Eintracht Frankfurt’s Europa League win attracted more people than the Champions League final. With a total of 9.05m viewers, it was RTL’s most successful TV show of 2022.

In Germany, as in many market, UEFA’s elite competition, the Champion’s League, is only available to fans on subscription. In December 2022, Amazon Prime Video and DAZN secured the UCL rights for the same three year period (2024/25-2026/27).
